OUR IMPACT

Time to Roll-Up Your Sleeves

Our Impact

With an emphasis on faith, unity, courage, integrity and strength, Herd Bull University teaches young men and women to lead in a Christ-like way. Our program is built for those longing for something more than mainstream America has to offer.

Herd Bull University is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization created by John Howell, a retired NFL safety; Scott Zimmerman, a former NFL fullback and linebacker; and retired USMC Colonel Trey Ardese. Through their faith and leadership, they are teaching future generations to understand discipline, sacrifice and servant leadership at the highest level.

Leading through Christ

In a culture marked by confusion and compromise, Herd Bull University provides clarity, conviction and community. Through mentorship, faith formation, leadership training and hands-on challenges, students are shaped into men and women who:

  • lead with integrity through God.

  • stand courageously in the face of cultural pressure.

  • serve their families, churches and communities.

  • live out their faith with confidence and humility.

Measurable Impact

Your support makes it possible for students to:

  • learn to lead in a Christ-like way.

  • participate in immersive leadership intensives.

  • experience mentorship from seasoned Christian leaders.

  • engage in character-building spiritual and physical training.

Because of our faithful donors, young men and women who once felt adrift are now anchored in purpose. Families who felt overwhelmed in our society are finding strength. Students who lacked direction are stepping into leadership roles.

Herd Bull University has been a life changing experience for our family. The time in the great outdoors, and space to connect with the Lord has been an amazing journey of true fellowship among men.

Drew Mastons, Herd Bull Member

Herd Bull University was the first trip with just my three boys and myself, marking a turning point for our family. Stepping off the grid and returning to the fundamentals of faith, leadership and brotherhood was highly impactful. In today's world, we need spaces that help develop strong men of Christ -- men grounded in purpose, character and accountability.

Herd Bull University ignited that fire in our home and strengthened the bond between a father and his sons. We are forever grateful for HBU's impact on our family and for providing a vehicle that not only strengthened us but also inspired us to invest in others who share our values.

"It's a cool tradition, and honestly, we don't see each other a lot. Brandings are a time to get together, do some work, and then gather together to eat and have fun. It's a great opportunity for us to teach the younger generation how to ride, how to work, have good work ethic and how to ranch."

Alexis Chavez Salinas, Herd Bull Member

"People come here from all walks of life, so community is definitely at the heart of Herd Bull University's mission. But it's also about pushing yourself to do things you've never done before. That was the first time I learned how to shoot a gun. And the first time jumping off a twenty-foot cliff into the falls!"

"I think it's really important that what we're sharing up here is to be a man of God. A big thing that Herd Bull University taught me was to become the man that God intended me to be."
